Egypt, Gift of the Nile

This spring we are hosting a special traveling exhibit from the Royal Ontario Museum. Explore an ancient civilization which flourished and endured for thousands of years. A highly developed civilization that contributed strongly to the later cultures of the Mediterranean and Europe. A hands on program.

Christmas at the Museum
(gr: JK to 8 - winter)

Get in the Christmas spirit! Investigate early Canadian Christmas traditions. Explore the Christmas exhibit, bake a treat and make a Christmas craft.

Pulleys and Gears - Cool Tools Survivor Challenge
(gr: 4 and 5 - all year)

We use pulleys and gears every day — they're all around us. Explore these ancient technologies through their use in Egypt and medieval Europe to their application in later times in artifacts at the Museum. Hands on activities and crafts.

Scholars & Schoolmasters
(gr: 3 to 5 - all year)

Learn about life in the classroom in Brockville over 100 years ago. Children travel back in time to practise recitation, leran sums and improve their penmanship with quill pens they make themselves. (Museum-on-the go)

Victorian Summer Games
(gr: 1 to 4 - spring, fall)

Investigate the fun and games of Victorian summertime. Play croquet, hoops and marbles. Students will enjoy making homemade ice cream and a pinwheel. (Museum-on-the go)

A Voyageur's Life
(gr: 3 to 5 - all year)

Explore the adventures of the first Europeans to settle eastern Ontario. Come out and sing, make some bannock, a voyageur's cap and learn why the beaver is on the nickel! (Museum-on-the go)

Scavenger Hunt
(gr: 2 to 5 - all year)

Want to bring your students to the museum for a shorter, less structured program? Children can wander in teams through the museum exhibits, searching for clues to find a hidden message.
