About the Network
The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve Education Network (FABREEN) is comprised of professional outdoor environmental education practitioners each of whom are located within or near the boundaries of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. The Frontenac Arch Biosphere encompasses an area of 2700 sq. kilomteres from Gananoque to Brockville, north to Sydenham, Westport and Athens. Click here to see a map.
FABREEN is the result of an awareness initiative by regional Outdoor Education Educators who, in 2005, had financial support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
The overall goal of the network is to teach children and adults about the Frontenac Arch Biosphere and the natural environment in which they live, while promoting the value of outdoor learning opportunities in the region. FABREEN is a cohesive network of local professional educators located within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere. Teachers have quick access to all available local environmental programmes and projects in which they may wish to become involved.
